Vision & Mission

Vision

Three Rivers Institute of Afrikan Art & Culture, Inc.,TRIAAC’s vision is to increase the profile of traditional Afrikan and Afrikan Diaspora music and artists in Northeast Indiana and the tri-state region, and see that the benefits go back to the artists and communities that produce the music.

Mission

Our mission is to develop the family relationships required to bring Afrikan and Diaspora artists to this community as teachers and residents, and thereby to grow a community where the study, promotion, preservation, propagation, and presentation of the music and its cultural values are embraced.

Community-Building

Family Circle1 300x169 Vision & MissionThe logical extension of the TRIAAC vision and mission is a commitment to educate, engage, and invest people in the work of raising a community founded in cultural clarity, personal integrity, and an arts-based development grounded in enriching the cultural life of the community in which we reside.

To do this TRIAAC realizes that the people building this community must dismember the barriers of race, class, gender, religion, and politics, and engage their differences toward the goal of extending family. We understand that the traditional Afrikan drumming and oral communication arts are keystones to this process.
