TRJE to open for Bolokada’s AfroPop Sextet

The Three Rivers Jenbé Ensemble will open for Bolokada Conde and the Summit City AfroPop Sextet on October 29, at the Rhinehart Music Center on the IPFW campus. The FREE concert begins at 7:30PM.

The ensemble will bring their own interpretation of traditional Malinké music emenating from Bolokada’s home in Guinea, West Afrika. The group is a TRIAAC program and has been playing their musical interpretations for the last 13 years, throughout Northeast Indiana. We are looking forward to the opportunity to bring our love of the music and culture to the stage, said Ketu Oladuwa, TRIAAC’s artistic director.

Through TRIAAC’s Visiting Artist Forum TRJE has studied with other Mande masters, including Famoudou Konate, Moustapha Bangoura, Alisco Diabate, Abass Camara, and Mandjou Mara.

We’ll be putting our best beats forward, said Oladuwa.
