Mati­nee Afrikan Rhythms with TRJE/RE-Mix 2013

Fundraiser:  To raise oper­at­ing funds for the Three Rivers Insti­tute of Afrikan Art & Cul­ture, Inc., and its community-building projects and work­shops, includ­ing the Mandé Music School, Acoustic Spo­ken­Word Café, and Straight Talk.

Who:              The Three Rivers Jenbé Ensemble/Re-Mix 2013 con­tin­ues the inspir­ing work begun in 1999 by the 13 youth who formed the Three Rivers Jenbe Ensem­ble and learned to inter­pret and rep­re­sent the tra­di­tional music of the Mandé-speaking peo­ple of West Afrika. Some of those found­ing mem­bers are back. Now in its 4^th iter­a­tion, TRJE/Re-Mix 2013 con­sists of three high school stu­dents, One mid­dle schooler, three TRJE grad­u­ates, and the ensemble’s artis­tic director. 

What:             A FAMILY con­cert and mini-workshop, with dance expe­ri­ence for youth and adults in three sets. Join the ensem­ble in cel­e­brat­ing spring as we give young peo­ple and their par­ents the oppor­tu­nity to learn and play with us.
